Be ready for great food, lots of fun, and amazing door prizes.
This year we’re combining the Winter Gala with a short AGM and elections. Contact one of the MYMP directors if you would like to run for the MYMP board of directors. It’s a great way to meet fellow young producers, learn about the dairy industry, and develop your leadership skills.

Evening with the Milk Board

That’s a wrap on our Evening with the Milk Board. Thanks to all of you that attended and make the evening a great success.

The new Chair of the BC Milk Marketing Board, Ben Janzen provided an overview of the Milk Board and answered some tough questions on milk prices and the ingredient strategy. It was a great opportunity to ask any and all questions about milk pricing, milk regulations, and the Milk Board.

MYMP would like to thank the two event sponsors – TD Canada Trust and MNP. MYMP would not be able to hold events like this without the generous support of sponsors.

MYMP Does Finance

That’s a wrap on MYMP Does Finance – what a success!

Steve Saccomano, the BMO Agricultural Specialist spoke about the financial side of dairy farming, focusing a lot on what to focus on financially for success, both in cash flow and approaching financing. We really appreciate Steve’s enthusiasm towards educating us for a better dairy industry future!

Jonathon Small, Farm Consultant for MNP spoke second about succession planning in a way that was easy to relate to and follow. His Rubik’s cube approach to family farm succession resounded with many listeners and his advice on best practices for successful family business hit the mark.

Over all, a great evening on the financial side of dairy farming. A balance between successfully running the farm today and transitioning to the future.
The MYMP would like to thank both MNP and BMO for their generous sponsorship of this event. We would not be able to hold these events without their support.

Evening with the MLAs

Held on May 24 at Rose Gate Farms in Matsqui.

The directors from MYMP hold a joint event with the directors of the BC Young Farmers. We invite the five MLAs from Abbotsford and Chilliwack for an evening on the farm to meet young farmers, learn about agricultural issues, challenges and opportunities, and tour the host farm.

It’s a great opportunity to connect young farmers with local politicians. This year the MLAs had the opportunity to get up close to a dairy cow. A great social media opportunity to promote dairy farmers.

Spring Social 2016

Held on Thursday, June 2 at Prinse Farms. Hosts Jason and Danielle Prinse

A great evening in east Chilliwack for young dairy farmers; an evening of good times, good eats, and great company. Several MYMP directors took turns firing up some barbeque.

This year’s feature was a presentation by Tadhg O'Leary from AgSafe. He led a discussion on how to make your farm more safe for workers, family, and of course the little ones running around.
