Frequently asked questions
Who is my MP?
Your MP (Member of Parliament) is the person elected to represent your federal riding in the House of Commons. Every Canadian address belongs to exactly one of 343 ridings, and your postal code determines which one. Enter your postal code in the search above to see your MP’s name, party, and full profile.
What can my MP do for me?
Your MP can help with federal services like immigration applications, passport delays, CRA issues, EI claims, and veterans’ benefits. They also represent your views in Parliament: you can ask them to vote a certain way on a bill, raise an issue in committee, or write to a minister on your behalf. Their constituency office exists to serve you — the service is free.
How do I contact my MP?
Every MP has an Ottawa office and at least one constituency office in their riding. You can call, email (most addresses follow firstname.lastname@parl.gc.ca), or mail a letter to the House of Commons, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0A6 — no postage required. Your MP’s profile on MyMP.ca lists their contact details.
What if I don’t know my postal code?
