Data
Data Status
Every number on MyMP.ca comes from a public government record. This page says which record, what window it covers, and where the gaps are, so a count is never read as more than it is.
Site data last rebuilt on October 8, 2026. The data file is rebuilt twice a week, on Sunday and Thursday.
| What | Source | Covers | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| MP roster | House of Commons | 337 sitting MPs, 343 seats Pruned against the official member list each refresh, so a departed MP leaves the site with the next build. | Live |
| Postal code to riding | Elections Canada | Every federal riding Each lookup is checked against Elections Canada. About one postal code in twenty sits on a riding line; those get a notice and a "use my location" option. | Live |
| Speeches (Hansard) | OpenParliament.ca | Since January 2021, 225,599 speeches Counts cover every speech since January 2021; the 50 most recent per MP are shown in full. Newest speech on file: 2026-10-06. | Live |
| Bills | LEGISinfo via OpenParliament.ca | Since 2001 (37th Parliament), 5,732 bills Sponsor, status, session history and party vote breakdowns. Bills before 2001 are not in our data. | Live |
| Votes | House of Commons | Recorded divisions, 421,956 individual MP votes Attendance and party-line stats are for the current (45th) Parliament only. | Live |
| Lobbying meetings | Registry of Lobbyists | Communication reports since July 2008 MP-directed communications. What was discussed (the registrant’s description) has been filed since mid-2024. In-house reports name the organization’s responsible officer, not the person in the room. | Live |
| Organizations | Registry of Lobbyists | Organizations with five or more MP meetings since January 2024, 1,304 pages | Live |
| Lobbying registrations | Registry of Lobbyists | Active and past registrations, lobbyists and firms | Live |
| Committees | House of Commons | Current memberships, plus who has testified this Parliament | Live |
| Ethics disclosures | Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner | Every sitting MP’s signed disclosure summary, gifts and sponsored travel, 334 MPs on the registry Each MP’s Ethics tab shows the current summary (sources, not amounts, as the Code requires), every gift and trip, with a link to the registry record. Superseded summaries are kept but not shown. | Live |
| Campaign contributions | Elections Canada | Contributions over $200 to each MP’s campaign and riding association, as submitted, since 2021 Totals only, on the MP’s Ethics tab; donor names stay at Elections Canada. “As submitted” returns can still be corrected by Elections Canada’s review. Contributions of $200 or less are never itemized, and a campaign’s return appears only once the candidate files it. | Live |
| MP office spending | House of Commons | Quarterly Members’ Expenditures Reports since April 2021; trip, hospitality and contract lines for the newest four quarters Staff salaries, travel, hospitality and contracts per quarter on each MP’s Ethics & Money tab, with the House median for scale. A quarter is published about three months after it ends and can be restated. | Live |
| Committee witnesses | House of Commons | Witnesses at the 45th Parliament’s standing committees, 906 meetings Who testified, for which organization, at which meeting. Special, legislative and joint committees are not searched. An organization’s page lists its appearances when its name matches the House list exactly. | Live |
| Senate lobbying | Registry of Lobbyists | Communication reports naming a senator, past 12 months Senators are ranked on the leaderboards only; MyMP has no senator pages. The registry’s spellings of one senator’s name are merged by surname and initial. | Live |
| Government contracts | Proactive disclosure (open.canada.ca) | Contracts over $10,000 Downloaded, not yet linked to MPs or organizations. Linking a contract to an MP through an organization that lobbied them is indirect, and we will not show it that way. | Not yet |
| Provincial legislatures | — | — MyMP covers federal MPs only. | Not yet |
Known gaps
- Bills before 2001 and speeches before January 2021 are not in our data. Every count says so where it appears.
- Lobbying totals without a window count every communication report since July 2008, when the registry started publishing them.
- The registry occasionally misspells an MP's name. A few meetings can be split between spellings until we add an alias.
- When an MP leaves the House, their page is removed with the next build. A “former MP” page that keeps their record is on the list.
- Government sources publish on their own schedules. Lobbyists have until the 15th of the following month to file a meeting, so the most recent weeks always look quieter than they were.
How we check
After every election or by-election, and whenever we are quoted, we rerun checks of each kind of claim against its primary source: votes against the House's official records, bill sponsors against LEGISinfo, MP emails against ourcommons.ca, postal codes against Elections Canada. The method is on the methodology page. Found something wrong? Tell us.
