MyMP.ca turns public records on Canada's MPs into something a reader can check in a minute: who lobbied them, what they said in the House, how they voted, which bills they sponsored. Everything is free, there is no login, and every number links back to the public record it came from.
How to cite us
Name the primary source and us, for example “according to federal lobbying registry data compiled by MyMP.ca.” Every count on the site says what window it covers: lobbying meetings since July 2008, speeches since January 2021, bills since 2001. Please carry the window into your copy, so a count is never read as a career total. The data status page lists each dataset, its source, and its gaps.
What we can pull for you
- Lobbying meetings for an MP, an organization, a lobbying firm, or a subject, with dates and the registrant's own description of what was discussed, as a spreadsheet.
- Which MPs an organization has met, by party and by month.
- Speeches that mention a bill, a topic, or a place.
- Voting records for a division, including MPs who voted against their caucus.
Email hello@mymp.ca with what you need and your deadline. Pulls from data we already hold usually go out the same or next day. There is no charge.
How we check
Each kind of claim is checked against its primary source: MP votes against the House's official records, bill sponsors against LEGISinfo, lobbying counts against a recount from the raw registry rows, MP contact details against ourcommons.ca, postal lookups against Elections Canada. The checks are rerun after every election or by-election. The methodology page explains each measure. If a number looks wrong, tell us before you print it and we will trace it to the source record.
Corrections
All data originates from public government records, so an error is usually in the source. When it is ours, we fix it with the next build and say so on the page.
Images
Every MP, riding, province, and organization page has a share image that lists the key figures with their windows. They are free to use with credit to MyMP.ca. Right-click the preview when sharing a page, or ask us for a specific one.
