Mr. Speaker, it is my honour to rise today to present petition e-7386, which over 2,100 Canadians signed. This petition comes out of the tragic death of Finlay van der Werken, a 16-year-old from Burlington who died waiting over eight hours in an Oakville hospital. His death demonstrates systemic failures that are occurring nationwide as a result of not having national standards when it comes to sepsis care. Finlay's family is turning tragedy into action and has moved this petition forward. They are calling on the government and the Minister of Health to strengthen federal oversight of the Canada Health Act, tie health transfer funding to enforceable national standards for pediatric emergency care in sepsis treatment and require transparent reporting and compliance to ensure timely, life-saving care for all Canadians. Over 18,000 Canadians die every year from sepsis. We can do better.

Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present, in both official languages, the fourth report of the Standing Committee on Finance, entitled “Recommendations of the Standing Committee on Finance for the 2026 budget”. I would like to take a moment to thank all the Canadians and organizations that contributed to this report. We received over 1,350 submissions and saw over 90 witnesses. I would like to extend my gratitude to all committee members for the very hard work they did in putting this report together. Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee requests that the government table a comprehensive response to this report.
Mr. Speaker, as the chair of the finance committee, it is my honour to inform the House that after 25 hours of clause-by-clause consideration, I have deposited with the clerks the report for the House's consideration.

Mr. Speaker, I would just like to salute my colleague. It has been a pleasure working with him over the past few years, and I want to extend my best wishes to him. I wish him all the best for the future. We will miss him, even though we have differences of opinion about our country. However, over the past few years I have seen that he has worked hard and has always been there to support Quebec, Quebeckers and his constituents. It is always a pleasure to work with someone who is professional and does their homework. I wish him all the best for the future.
