Madam Speaker, last Saturday, I was proud to join survivors, families and advocates at the Walk to End Intimate Partner Violence, in Durham region. Sadly, statistics show that more than four in 10 women in Canada will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Behind those numbers are our friends, neighbours, co-workers and loved ones. Today, I want to recognize the organizations working every day in my region to support survivors and prevent violence. Victim Services of Durham Region, Herizon House and Safety Network Durham are just a few organizations of many trying to stop intimate partner violence in Durham region. As a father of three daughters, I believe that ending violence starts at home with the values we pass on to our children. Respect must always come first, and we must teach boys and men that they have a responsibility to be allies and develop healthy relationships. We must challenge harmful behaviour and help end the cycle of abuse. Let us continue working together to build communities where safety, dignity and respect are the norm and where violence has no place.

Madam Speaker, I should not need to remind any member of the House that we are in a trade war, and a trade war causes economic volatility. The job numbers last month reflect that volatility; that is clear, and we empathize with Canadians who might be struggling to keep their jobs. What we are doing is controlling what we can. We have cut taxes on income, housing, fuel and new business investment. We have saved $60 billion in government operations, have signed 20 new trade and security agreements and have seen the second-highest growth in the G7 and the highest foreign direct investment. This is how we respond in the face of a trade war.

Madam Speaker, while the Conservatives focus on QP skits and clips for their online social media feeds to scare Canadians, we are stepping up to support them every step of the way. We are investing in our economy and have made generational investments. We have cut taxes on income, housing, fuel and new business investment. In fact, the productivity mega deduction that the Prime Minister announced at the investment summit makes Canada the most tax-competitive advanced economy in the entire world. That is going to bring in new investment, help counteract the trade war and create jobs for Canadians.

Madam Speaker, this Thanksgiving, Canadians should know that we are stepping up to support them with the cost of living. We have cut taxes on income, housing, fuel and new business investment, while we have moved forward with affordability measures like the Canada groceries and essentials benefit, which will put $1,890 over the course of the next year in families' pockets. We also moved forward with the home retrofit program, which was announced just yesterday, and the national school food program. Do members know what the missing ingredient is at this Thanksgiving dinner? It is the Conservative Party being willing to stand up for Canadians. We have not seen that for some time in this House. It would—

Madam Speaker, what would lower food costs is if the member actually stood up and supported jobs in the Durham region. She and her party voted against the Canada Growth Fund, which invested $2 billion in the new nuclear project at Darlington, creating 18,000 construction jobs and 3,700 jobs in operations once the SMRs are in operation. That is significant support. That is how we build an affordable lifestyle. It is giving workers and young people chances to earn a good living and have wages outpace inflation. That is exactly—
