Bill C-16 (Protecting Victims Act) regarding coercive control. EAPO, joined a group of organizations, part of the Elder Justice Coalition to meet with MPs, Senators and Staffers about suggested amendments to Bill C-16. Proposed changes included the need to the create a coercive control offence, that applies beyond intimate partners, to include relatives. Expanding Bill C-16 in this manner, would better reflect the experienced realities by older adult victims and help ensure abusers are held to account.
