This includes recognition of Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation’s role as host Nation, the development of Indigenous-led nuclear and nuclear-enabling infrastructure opportunities, and federal regulatory, governance, and oversight frameworks associated with the DGR project.

With respect to the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation's (WLON) ongoing negotiations with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) to act as a willing host for Canada's Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for nuclear waste, the Nation is seeking an agreement with the Government of Canada to secure tax exemptions for any Per Capita Distribution (PCD) payments, and protect its members' access to essential support programs, to ensure their financial stability.
