Testified at committee, then met its members

Since May 2025, 226 outside organizations have testified before a House committee and also had lobbying meetings with MPs who sit on it. Canadian Medical Association leads: it appeared before Health 2 times and met 7 of its members 40 times.

Both are legal and common. Committees invite groups to testify in public, and registered lobbyists meet MPs in private. This page shows where the two channels reach the same MPs. It does not show that a meeting was about the committee's work. Method at the bottom.

How this is counted

  • Testified: meetings of a House standing committee where the organization appeared as a witness, 45th Parliament, from the House's own witness lists. Departments, agencies and other parts of government are left out. The committee witnesses leaderboard has every organization.
  • Meetings with its members: communication reports in the federal Registry of Lobbyists, filed by or for the organization, that name an MP who sits on that committee, since May 2025 (newest on file: September 10, 2026). One report naming one MP is one meeting. The meeting can be about anything, before or after the testimony.
  • Committee members are the members the House listed in September 2026. MPs who left a committee earlier are not counted for it.
  • Names are matched with care, not guessed. The House and the registry spell names their own way. We match them after ignoring capitals, accents, punctuation, a leading “The” and legal endings like Inc. or Corporation, and nothing looser. An organization that registers under a different name is missed rather than mismatched: 324 witness organizations matched a registry client.
